After searching for almost forever, Ghai has finally found his heroine for his next directorial venture, Kaanchi– a 21-year-old girl is from Kolkata, named Mishti, yet another name starting with ‘M’ after Ghai's previous discoveries named Meenakshi Sheshadri, Madhuri Dixit, Manisha Koirala and Mahima Chaudhary.
Apparently, the search for Kaanchi has been a long and tough one. Ghai says, “My hunt is over today! It is really tough job to write a good script which promises to be a blockbuster as well as a great story with great characters, particularly the protagonist And the tougher job is when you decide to pick up a newcomer to play the title role instead of an established star. It was a very intense struggle to find Kaanchi.”Ghai exclaimed. The director then showered words of praises on the girl and told a daily, “More than 240 girls auditioned for the role but most were devoid of talent. The ones who were talented were not good looking. I liked her pictures and decided to call her to Mumbai. We made her go through various screen tests for six days. I must say she came out with flying colours. She is an actress of Kajol’s calibre.”

Mishti, aka, Indrani Chakraborty has just completed a film with Bengali superstar Prosenjit directed by Rupali Guha.

'Kaanchi' will be releasing on 15th August 2013.
